| tipi camp asheville's Tale of the Cosmic 2x4 |
| Back in February of 2009 owners of tipi camp asheville, Jay and Lani Linkotter, had some bad luck. Jay was struck in the back with a frame made of 2 x 4 lumber. Not thinking he was injured, Jay kept on working and then went home for the day. The next day he worked some more and went home as usual. He didn't sleep well that night and woke with an incredible back pain and difficulty breathing. Lani told him," if you are not better by 3PM we're going to see Dr. Bob." He wasn't, and they did. Dr. Bob handed Jay his stethoscope and said, "listen." Jay could hear his right lung making the normal breathing sounds but when placed on his lower left side - nothing. The short story - collapsed lung, emergency room, 4 days trauma unit, Jay lost 1/3 of his precious red fluid... But as you know, there's always a good side... While convalescing Jay listened to the sound of motorcycles cruising by on the wonderful roads of the western North Carolina mountains, and he thought. He thought he would like to not be in construction any more. He thought of how much he loved riding his motorcycle. And then he thought "I can share this. I can lead people on tours of these beautiful mountain roads." He and Lani worked together, researching, pondering, and together came up with North Carolina Mountain Motorcycle Tours (ncmmt.com), and then, to compliment that creation, tipi camp asheville was conceived. At tipi camp asheville all you really need to bring is your toothbrush. A tipi, on a wood deck, with an air bed, real sheets and pillows, and an electric outlet with a lamp are all here for you. And then there's "Lucille" with flush toilets, bathroom sinks, hot shower, and free morning coffee! How much more fun to be had spending time making new friends, sharing tales of the day's discoveries, planning tomorrow's adventures, or just roasting marshmallows by the fire? Come on, it's time to get out there and have some fun... |
